I'm inexperienced with computers, so I can't really help people on here, only ask questions.

Rebooting helped a lot but it didn't work still ` Please use apt-cdrom to make this CD-ROM recognized by APT. apt-get update cannot be used to add new CD-ROMs` Got a lot of other stuff but I noticed that come up a few times, maybe has something to do with me using a usb as a flash drive to run the computer or something (still not great with computers). Then I got E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution) so I tried that and got E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)

Hasn't worked with any of those ones - I think it's a problem with Ubuntu or the laptop

I'm in the UK at the moment, and I've tried most of those ones, but I'll try some US ones.

I've tried a few, always comes up with 'Failed to download repository information' and 'check your internet connection'. One of them almost loaded completely before coming up with this message.

I have done the 'best match test' before and I had set it to 'best match' before too.

Sorry, I'm not using a proxy internet connection, I'm using a network adapter. I meant that in 'Software Sources', I have set the 'download from', in 'Ubuntu Software' to a web address? I think there's a problem with that, as in Terminal when I try to install anything, it outputs the address and then 'Something wicked happened' Afterwards, it says something about 'UR_PROXY' so I got confused and thought it was something to do with that. I actually get my internet from the wifi box in my house and I use a wireless adapter.

Not sure how to turn off the Proxy, but I have installed DownThemAll in Firefox. I have tried downloading Adobe Flash Player again - I wanted to try and open it with DownThemAll, but whenever I try downloading, it just asks me what program I want to open it with, and then I can't find DownThemAll.
