I connect to Lubuntu using NoMachine's client under Windows 7. Under your NX client connection under the Desktop area, select "Custom", then click on settings. Just be sure the settings look like this: Now connect and you're ready to go.

I had the same problem under Gentoo. I can't promise that this will work on a CentOS 5 server, but this worked for me on a Gentoo server. Inside your nx session, open a terminal window and run: setxkbmap -model evdev -layout us Replacing "us" with your desired layout if it isn't the US layout. Your keymap should be correct now. If you start your nx ...

I located the culprit. Tested on a fresh install, confirmed it's a bug. I submitted a bug report In short the issue is: The polkit authentication dialogue will show up on DISPLAY :0 instead of DISPLAY :1 where the VNC/NX session is. A workaround may be to use libpam-keyring to auto authenticate upon login. or... scratch that, that probably would not do ...

The NX session is defined by a session name (where you can enter whatever you want) and a host name, which is used to identify the server on the network. Your host name can be a regular name (that will be resolved by your DNS or domain server, or /etc/hosts file, or whatever resolution system you may have. If you don't have such a thing, you can simply put ...

You can press F9 while booting to enter the ROM-Based Setup Utiltiy. From System Options >> Processor Options choose "No-Execute Memory Protection". If it is „Disabled”, set it to „Enabled”. Excerpt from the manual: No-Execute Memory Protection enables the hardware portion of a feature that protects systems against malicious code and viruses. When ...

This person figured it out: This "Run the following command" Works!!! gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d And if gnome-session-fallback has been installed, then this "Run the following command" will also Work... gnome-session --session=gnome-classic One "Caveat" being the NoMachine NX Client has to be Manually "Terminated" since it will ...

I know it's a few months ago, but I've found a solution to this problem : it's not necessary to activate sound forwarding in nxclient, but you have to type this command within a terminal after opening nx session : pacmd load-module module-tunnel-sink server=[YOUR_CLIENT_IP]. Make sure the volume is on and high enough (this sounds stupid, but I've lost time ...

I have found solution for identical problem in Arch forums. You need to downgrade libcairo2 to 1.10 version (I have downloaded it from precise-updates repo - http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise-updates) and make order in resulting dependency mess. I had to downgrade as well following packages: libcairo2:i386 (my system is amd64, but e.g. acroread depends on ...

Ubuntu's Desktop Sharing is just the VNC protocol under the hood, whereas Windows uses RDP. So you're either going to have to get Ubuntu running RDP. As @laurent mentioned, there's xrdp, but I haven't used it personally. The easier method is to use a VNC client on Windows, and there are a tonne of those that should all work, including: TightVNC UltraVNC ...

Confirming, upgrading windows nxclient to 3.4.0-10 (from 3.4.0-7 for me; on Windows XP) worked perfectly. http://www.nomachine.com/download-client-windows.php Tried all or most of the other fixes and none worked for me.

If you are using FreeNX, you will need to edit /etc/nxserver/node.conf. In the General FreeNX Directives, locate this lines: # The port number where local 'sshd' is listening. #SSHD_PORT=22 Uncomment the second one and put there the port where sshd is listening. Note that I haven't been able to test it, so please comment if it doesn't work.

I think this is the correct PolicyKit behavior. The policy for Active, Inactive and Any other user are different, so when you are connected through NX you are not Active (clients in active sessions on local consoles), nor Inactive (clients in inactive sessions on local consoles), but you result as Any user. You can see the default policy for the Action ...

To install a gui on your server, you're best following this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ServerGUI. That will get a GUI on your system. The next step is to get remote desktop software. NoMachines looks like a proprietary implementation of NX technology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_technology). There is an open source implementationm called ...

A Debian or Ubuntu system can be upgraded remotely from a ssh session, even if the upgrade includes replacing the ssh deamon and the kernel (which requires to reboot the system). A upgrade via NX would be technically similar, however since NX is not part of Ubuntu, this cannot possibly be officially supported. Either find out, how to perform the update via ...
