Well the best and easiest way to find out is to boot up Mythbuntu LiveCD (or USB) and let it see if it detects it. ;)

I found that I had to also install xarchiver: sudo apt-get install p7zip xarchiver Then run xarchiver (should be in the Accessories menu) and 7zip will be a format available.

Probably not the answer you are hoping for but... When I first set up MythBuntu several years ago I hoped to use a remote control. The amount of grief trying to set up the remote persuaded me to use a wireless keyboard (and mouse but that's now gone). So for watching tv/recordings, I use the wireless keyboard.
