dpkg is a tool to install, build, remove and manage Debian packages. Unlike apt-get, dpkg used to install Debian packages off-line.

To debug problems of dpkg, make sure to include the entire output of the error. Most of the errors are generic message and non-informative, because of this the complete output is critical to solve the problem.

The most common is E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) which method of solving is specific of each case.
