You can install Ubuntu’s New Web Apps Feature of Ubuntu 12.04 & 12.10. This will allow you to integrate your Gmail and Google Calender to the desktop, and make them first class citizen on your computer. This will allow for system notification pop-ups, HUD integration, and other Unity features. This is how to install it: Open the Terminal and type these ...

The old funambol clients were giving us and our users too many severe problems, and we discontinued the service. From our blog post, As of June 1, 2011 the current Ubuntu One contacts sync for mobile will no longer be active. We’re stopping support for our current service so we can focus our energy on launching a much better service sooner than ...

Michael is correct. Thunderbird doesn't integrate with CouchDB (yet :) so the only way to get it to sync with the Ubuntu One cloud is through our mobile phone contacts sync service since Funambol (our technology partner) has developed an add-on for that application. They also have add-ons for MS Outlook and the Mac Address Book applications. Currently their ...

A member of our web team is working on something on his free time (which is not much, because he is a member of our web team), https://launchpad.net/hedera. Quoting the description over there: Hedera is an extension for Thunderbird (currently Thunderbird 3 only, but Thunderbird 2 will be supported when the extension is stable) that synchronises ...

In order reset desktopcouch/couchdb to a known state please verify the following: There are no DesktopCouch entries in gnome-keyring (seahorse frontend) There are no desktopcouch-service processes running: /usr/lib/desktopcouch/desktopcouch-stop killall desktopcouch-service There is no config file for couchdb - ~/.config/desktop-couch/desktop-couchdb.ini ...

While I wasn't able to find a timeline for when there is an explanation of why it isn't available on the 9.10 and 10.04 release. Syncing of contacts and bookmarks is working for Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) users. Maverick users will need to have the latest updates installed. Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid) users will have to wait ...

It is supported, but not quite as elegantly as Evolution syncing. Here's the step-by-step: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/Contacts#Sync%20Thunderbird%20contacts Basically, you must tell Ubuntu One you have a mobile phone (you can fake it) and then install the mobile phone syncing plugin for Thunderbird and point it at Ubuntu One.

We don't currently have plans to bring contacts sync to Opera, but if someone is interested in building an extension to do that I am happy to provide all the Ubuntu One information that would be needed to do so! If you, or someone you find, wants to make Opera a better citizen on the Ubuntu desktop, that'd be really cool.

Ubuntu one for Android website and the application can be found at this web-location. The ubuntu one contacts app is visible only if you are running 2.x as described in the ubuntu one wiki. The contacts app is provided by Funambol - if you are having problems then have a look at the support blog for updates

I was curious about this myself, greping around in /usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui I found reference to contactDisplay in overview.js. You should be able to comment out the two lines: const ContactDisplay = imports.ui.contactDisplay; this.addSearchProvider(new ContactDisplay.ContactSearchProvider()); and that will take care of it. Just tested it, and ...

I think you are looking for Broadcast accounts. Open terminal. Type the following command: sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/gnome-online-accounts-panel.desktop Scroll down till you see the following: OnlyShowIn=GNOME; Change it to look like the following: OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity; Click save. Then try searching accounts in the dash.

The Online Accounts panel doesn't appear if you are using Unity. In theory, you don't need it with stock Ubuntu 12.04. However, it is useful if you have installed Evolution Mail, Contacts or Documents. In some of these applications, like Contacts, you can open the Online Accounts panel directly from their own menus. Otherwise, you can get to it in the ...

For now, the contacts are still backended to CouchDB. This will stop being the case over the next few months (this should get updated when that happens). What you need to do is determine the right endpoint for your couchdb instance on the server, and then query that using the couchdb REST API. As all these requests need to be OAuth-signed, it's not trivial ...

The UbuntuOne contacts in evolution use a couchdb file (desktopcouch) which is normally hidden from you. If this file is missing then the url will be invalid. It could also be a bug since it should be clever enough to create an empty couchdb if it's missing. I wonder what would happen if you run the desktop couch stuff from the command line.

Ubuntu One contacts and bookmarks sync (desktop-couch sync) is not functional. You can see the status here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Status. When it's up again, all contacts you have in desktop-couch contact lists will automatically be synced.

I had the same problem several years ago, and wrote a very small python script to unify the LDIF export of a Thunderbird addressbook: export addressbook as LDIF to e.g. abook.ldif run cat abook.ldif | unify_ldif.py > abook_new.ldif import abook_new.ldif again (maybe rename old addressbook before) The script currently matches duplicate entries on email ...

Did this happen with phone sync? If it did, be careful as the instructions below may also delete the contacts in your phone when you re-sync. The simplest way to delete everything is probably using our new bulk delete option. To do this: Go to: https://edge.one.ubuntu.com/contacts/ Click "Select all" Delete

We've been seeing problems with contact syncing on iphone and nokias for a while now, and have been chasing these cases individually. The problem is, with our current infrastructure, it's usually hard to reproduce and fix. While we continue trying to resolve each case individually, we've started to look into more in-depth solutions that provide a nicer ...

Until we get CouchDB 1.0 into Lucid (which we aim to do by the next point release), unfortunately replication won't work. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try the PPA mentioned in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/CouchDBSRU; If you do, take care, and report any issues on that wiki page. Otherwise, please wait a couple more months. Thank you.

It should be as simple as adding the desktop couch contacts book back, like so: From the New menu under contacts you can add an Address Book, that will show a window which you can put the type as CouchDB, give it a name such as "Ubuntu One" and then select "Desktop CouchDB" as the Server. More detail: This ties into this couch file in your home directory ...

I had the same problem and solved it by checking three boxes: a. Evolution-Mail -> Edit -> Preferences -> Contacts -> [x] Always show address of the autocompleted contact / [x] Gmail b. Evolution-Contacts -> Gmail -> Properties -> [x] Autocomplete with this address book Hope that helps.

DesktopCouch is installed Via the UbuntuOne application within your Ubuntu desktop. Open UbuntuOne and, if needed sign in. Once there click on services and at the bottom of the page you will see a link to install the adaption. Once this is installed two check boxes will appear in its place, one for contacts and one for bookmarks from Firefox. Tick the box ...

If you enable Contact sync with Ubuntu One as per these steps, it should work. There should be no difference in procedure for getting contacts from U1 to Evolution. If it still doesn't work for you, then you may be facing my issue.

From the Service Status page at one.ubuntu.com: 2011-11-02 Syncing of contacts is not working for some users due to server issues. On 2011-10-10 we released an update to all clients to help ease the load on the server and improve reliability of syncing. We're now working on finishing up adding additional server hardware. As such, it is not working ...

There is a known problem with the Ubuntu One service and it's been like that since before the weekend. They're working on it and expect to have it fixed soon. In the meantime, you can follow the progress here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Status

The Ubuntu One contacts integration in its current form is going away, and doesn't currently work at all well. I'd recommend removing it from the desktop completely until Q (12.10). You can do that by typing the following in a console: sudo apt-get purge '.*couch.*' As to the website issue, I'll have the guys look into it as soon as you file a bug. Please ...
