I am running Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Classic, and I got one more problem with the display.

When I launch programs, the corresponding icons are not on the bottom panel anymore...

How can I solve this ?

You will need to use one of the shown panel-applets.

Press Win+Alt and right-click the bottom panel bar - N.B. Win is the Windows Symbol key

(If you are using Gnome Classic (No Effects) i.e. gnome fallback mode then to add to the panel use Alt and right-click)

Lots more information and some very useful links to customise your classic desktop can be found in the linked question.

Thank you for your help that works fine now. But my icons are on right of the panel... – pasta Jan 31 at 9:47
Hover your mouse over the edge of the window list panel applet and Win+Alt to bring up the pop-up - it will give you a move option. – fossfreedom Jan 31 at 9:58
It doesnt work either, it just moves the application window, not the icons in the window panel list – pasta Jan 31 at 10:10
have a look at my image - you will see the mouse cursor in the bottom left - just left of this is the area you need to win+alt – fossfreedom Jan 31 at 10:14
I just deleted the panel and created a new one. Then I added "Window List" by right clicking on the left of the panel and it works fine now. Thank you for your help ! – pasta Jan 31 at 10:37
