Try running:

    sudo update-ca-certificates -f

if that doesn't work try

sudo apt purge ca-certificates-java && sudo apt install ca-certificates-java

The problem is caused by the fact that the ca-certificates that come with Ubuntu (and flavors) are a little broken for Java so reinstalling them and reloading them will hopefully fix it.
