When I turn my desktop on my secondary monitor (a vizio hdtv) maintains screen resolution but the picture shifts to the left leaving about 2-5 inches of black space at the edge. Changing my resolution to something else then resetting it fixes the problem but I'm forced to do this almost every time I turn on my computer or it returns from sleep. I noticed the same problem on win7, though much less frequently. My primary monitor is hooked up with a dvi cable and the problematic vizio is hooked up with a vga... any help would be appreciated. thanks.

If it is also happening on Windows 7 then it almost certainly must be a hardware fault – coversnail May 22 at 16:09
