Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm facing a weird problem since last couple of days with GNOME Shell running in Ubuntu 11.10. Whenever I get into activities overview (by using cursor pointing to left hot corner or using Windows Key) and start typing to search for any app or file, with very first key press, the shell crashes and restarts, and this happens every-time I do it. It used to work fine previously but the issue has surfaced since last few days.

How can I fix it?

here the solution :) http://www.taringa.net/posts/linux/14061303/Gnome-Shell-creashea-cuando-buscas---Nvidia.html

Have you installed any new extensions lately? Try disabling them all and report back if the problem persists. – Wolter Hellmund Jan 18 '12 at 8:36
