Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, freshly installed on a brand new asus eee with AMD E-450 APU with Radeon HD Graphics × 2.

When restarting pc i.e. after installation of update packages, the system does not reboot: black screen with prompter on top left. After ctrl-alt-F2 the terminal opens, however I do not know how to use it.

After ctrl-alt-del reboot will only start from a usb-stick with a trail ubuntu 11.10. After Shut down of the trial, the system will readily start again from HD.

After battery pack was removed after shut down, system reboots again readily from HD.

When pc went into standby after closing the display, the system does not restart at all: total black screen and no hd activity, pc is "dead" and affords restart with above described problems.

Problems seem to be related. How to fix?
