I'm trying to install version 11.10 on a very old pc. It runs normally until it gets to the network detection part.

When it gets there it runs its tests and then it says that it cannot auto-configure the network. The pc has the Ethernet cable connected in the only port it has and it can connect to the Internet fine while on Windows.

What's the problem?

What kind of connection? Do you get dynamically assigned IP addresses (DHCP)? – qbi Apr 6 '12 at 16:54
