I have installed ubuntu 11.10. At first before the installation i had to turn off acpi (by choosing noapci in F6 other options) because if i didn't the boot got stuck by "attached SCSI removable disk". So now I have installed ubuntu next to Windows7. If I now want to boot ubuntu its getting stuck during the boot. I just get a black screen. Windows 7 boots without any problem. I do get into the grub and I can get into the grub command.

Can anyone help me to get ubuntu running?

My laptop is an Asus X5QS

follow the above guide and use your kernel boot parameter "noacpi" – fossfreedom Dec 21 '11 at 21:45
thank you, it worked! – asus Dec 22 '11 at 11:11
