Possible Duplicate:
Are there any good books for new Ubuntu user?

I'm looking for some good books to check out that are updated to cover the current version 11.10.

While this question may be close to these two topics:

Are there any good books for new Ubuntu user?

List of free Ubuntu books

Those two are both more than a year old so the books suggested are a couple of versions behind. I have been using Ubuntu for a couple of years now so I would like to stray away from the for beginners books and get more into the nitty gritty aspects of what makes the system run, etc.

Both free and paid book suggestions would be awesome!

instead of creating a new question that will be out of date just update the existing question. – Jorge Castro Dec 15 '11 at 15:21
+1 to that Jorge. – James Dec 15 '11 at 15:22
@jayeag00 If the answers to that question are outdated, consider putting a bounty on the question to bring it to the attention of other users instead of opening a duplicate of that question. – Marco Ceppi Dec 15 '11 at 15:26
My apologies, I'll keep that in mind. – jayeag00 Dec 15 '11 at 18:07

Excellent choice. I have the prior version and use it heavily. It's not released yet though, you can pre-order only at the Amazon link... – Tom Brossman Dec 15 '11 at 7:13

There are several books in the Software Center on Ubuntu. The Official Ubuntu Book is there as well. Use to find it in the Software Center directly.

We will have a book available in the Software Center "shortly" that covers 11.10 specifically. I don't have a timeline, but expect it to be updated soon.

There is an article on this same thing on Here is the link to the article: Just scroll down the page to the "The Official Ubuntu Book (6th Edition)". It covers Ubuntu 11.10.

For convenience, here is the link to buy the book on Amazon:
