gconf-editor /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled
The above is able to enable and disable the touchpad in my Acer Aspire 4810TZ running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, but if I disable the touchpad using the physical button on the laptop, clicking it again fail to reenable it.
Previously, I could workaround the issue by rmmod the i8042 module and reactivate it by insmod i8042 again. However, lately i8042 module seems to be hard compiled into the kernel and not as a separate loadable module.
Any recommendation?
