Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I ripped some of my CD's to mp3, and also put some of my mp3's, which I had purchased from my Zune account, into my Ubuntu One Cloud. Most of them show up with the correct album art and album/artist names, but random songs will be sent to the unknown album/artist folders.

I have been trying to get this to work right for over a month and I believe I am giving the app/cloud plenty of time to refresh and categorize my music (sometimes I'll wait a week).

In my attempts to debug this I have removed all of my music from my cloud several times and have re-uploaded my music. I also tried uninstalling the apps on my ipad and Iphone.

It seems that some songs that were recognized previously will not be recognized and vice versa after the re-upload. And even some songs that I don't upload again still show up in the unknown album/artist list, i.e. not go away.

This is frustrating because I like to be able to click on an album and listen to it straight through without searching for some random missing song in the unknown listing. This seems like a serious bug. If it isn't please help me figure it out.

Why don't you edit the ID3 tags of those songs. –  Uri Herrera Dec 11 '11 at 6:51

Thanks for responding, the songs have the correct album and artist information in their ID3 tags. The problem is for example last night I had an album with all of the songs correctly identified but when I woke up this morning the first 5 songs got moved over to the unknown list. –  Henry Dec 11 '11 at 18:34

The only thing I did was I added two new albums to my cloud, but I didn't change anything about the one album that was showing up correctly last night in my app. It seems to have randomly moved the 5 songs over to unknown for no reason. –  Henry Dec 11 '11 at 18:46

Sounds to me like this is a bug, you should file a report. –  Uri Herrera Dec 11 '11 at 19:38
