The bass on Ubuntu is terrible when compared to that of Windows 7. The windows bass booster along with the srs provided by windows media player provides some amazing bass.

With Ubuntu, I have tweaked several media players to output with max bass, I also tried ALSA tweaking and pulseaudio equalizers, but the effects of these have been almost negligible.

Is there any way to emulate the windows bass boost? Simple equalizers do not seem to be enough.

I am currently running windows 7 in a VM just to listen to music, there has to be a better way.

Do you have problems with your audio equipment that you need to deform sound like that? – zetah Dec 9 '11 at 8:34
