I created a custom ISO with remastersys, i installed the ISO on a laptop yesterday. The log in screen was working fine. After I downloaded 20mb of updates on 12/7 and rebooted, the log in screen was corrupt. The background was black, and the icons on the top bar were 'low graphics' icons. I tried to run the command do dpkg-reconfigure lightdm, but it gave 2 erros with missing packages. The only visible part was the username box.

I don't want to reinstall a clean 11.10 and I want to fix the log in screen. I am able to log in and 11.10 runs fine but I'm unaware if the problem was me using Remastersys.

also, grub does not say Linux .... 3.0.xxxx, the info is deleted and there is only a comma "," both for the normal boot and recovery – mac1133 Dec 8 '11 at 13:05
not a real question It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. – Ringtail Apr 1 '12 at 18:19
