I can't do anything on my pc..everything i do ends up with "kernel panic"

it looks like a RAM issue. Could you run memtest86+ from the GRUB boot menu? – Lekensteyn Dec 2 '11 at 22:34

If it reports a lot errors, you need to replace your RAM. – Lekensteyn Dec 2 '11 at 22:55
Or [if it finds errors] at least take the current RAM out, give it a blow, re-seat it and test it again. I should warn you that it can sometimes take hours of memtesting to show up a fault. Leave it going as long as you can (eg overnight would be best) – Oli Dec 2 '11 at 22:59
took out the ram(2 out of 4)..will run memtest – Mihai Dec 2 '11 at 23:01
