Bluetooth doesn't work correctly on my system (it works fine in Windows 7).

When I'm using it, it always crashes my computer. This happened many times just after (or few minutes later) when I send my files to a mobile phone or even when I only try to connect to it!

I tried to send files to another mobile phone, but the effect is the same. I also tried to use it on guest account, but it still doesn't work correctly - well, I received something about 10% of the all combined sent files (on my account too), but how much effort did it cost?

What is your computer manufacturer and model? –  William Nov 29 '11 at 22:38

Did not mention the bluetooth you are using in the specs. That would help even more than the PC specs. –  Luis Dec 14 '11 at 6:41

Please run sudo lspci -nn from a terminal and edit your question to include the output. –  htorque Jan 19 '12 at 11:06

To answer the question: In general, bluetooth does work correctly in 11.10. I have it running correctly with an AMD E350 processor and Ubuntu 11.10 64bit. To find a solution for your specific problem more information about the hardware in use (the bluetooth device) is needed.

I too have 11.10 64bit and whilst on a two-day train journey my laptop just decided to stop connecting to my phone via bluetooth. Our spare laptop, still running 10.10, continued to work fine. I have never been able to connect to my phone since.

In fact since returning from the journey my laptop sees a Bluetooth item once, appears to connect, and then never sees it again. I have tried connecting on another laptop that also runs 11.10 and that too demonstrated the same problem: saw everything once and now can no longer see anything.

My wife, meanwhile, is using the Gnome Classic skin on her 11.10 installation and her Bluetooth manager has no problems.

In answer to your question, therefore, I would say that it does not function correctly in 11.10.
