to ask the obvious... are you sure the folder is not in the recycle bin? –  fossfreedom Nov 17 '11 at 22:49

Try not to use your computer for reading and writing files ... look at this question and answers for help on file and folder retrieval. askubuntu.com/questions/3883/how-to-recover-deleted-files –  fossfreedom Nov 17 '11 at 23:32

The reason that the folder is irretrievable is that the sync never finished.

I see. So is my folder permanently lost? What happened to the local version of the folder? Is there any way at all for me to recover the folder? Please help me –  Kumar Nov 17 '11 at 22:58

Could you please check online at https://one.ubuntu.com/files ans see if the file is synchronized to Ubuntu One. If the folders are not there, then they never go synced to Ubuntu One.

If something went wrong, it would be in your logs, please file a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+filebug and attach your log files. If you're on ubuntu, the syncdaemon log files in your ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log (make sure the bug is marked private)
