There is no /dev/tty0 file, that usually means two things:

  • You are running a virtual server with no VGA (and ssh-ing to it, of course)
  • There is some problem with udev

If you are in a real machine, you can try to reinstall udev.

Based on "2.6.24-29-server" you are running Hardy 8.04.

What graphics card do you have? Run:

lspci | grep VGA

and paste that back.
