I have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Dell Vostro 3700, but it seems that Unity does not work properly, in the sense that I cannot move windows from one workspace to another and cannot maximise windows moving them to the top of the screen.

The strange thing is, when i tested Ubuntu from an usb-stick these features were working, but after installing it to the hard drive, Ubuntu 11.10 does not do these things properly.

One additional detail: in Ubuntu 11.04 it did work.

Hello have you enabled unity 3D from the log on screen (probably you may be working on unity 2D PS if this doesn't work then please give more details about your installation and about hardware) – shariq Nov 8 '11 at 8:26
yes, i have enabled ubuntu (ubuntu 3D) from the log on screen. – christoph gapp Nov 8 '11 at 19:02
regarding more details, maybe that: the additional drivers - i activated the NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updater) (versoin current-updates) and NOT the recommended NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended] because my trial to activate that one returned an error-message: "Sorry, installation of this driver failed....log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log" – christoph gapp Nov 8 '11 at 19:12
the details of jockey.log: 2011-11-08 20:06:54,647 DEBUG: NVidia(nvidia_current).enabled(): target_alt /usr/lib/nvidia-current/ld.so.conf current_alt /usr/lib/nvidia-current/ld.so.conf other target alt /usr/lib/nvidia-current/alt_ld.so.conf other current alt /usr/lib/nvidia-current/alt_ld.so.conf 2011-11-08 20:06:54,648 DEBUG: KMH enabled: False – christoph gapp Nov 8 '11 at 19:13
