Possible Duplicate:
How to get Gnome 3.2 login theme installed?

Everytime I start up my laptop I get the unity login screen while I want this to be the GNOME3 login screen.

The unity login screen: http://cdn.omgubuntu.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/screen-shot-2011-10-06-at-18.06.57-copy.jpg

The GNOME3 login screen: enter image description here

How do I change this? I want the GNOME3 login screen not the unity one!

The programs that run them are significantly different. Ubuntu now uses LightDM while Gnome 3 recommends (and is above) GDM. The shortest method is by just theming LightDM to look like GDM. The long way is what I've closed this as a dupe of. It's a work in progress. If you want to ask about theming LightDM to look like GDM, please edit the question and flag the question for moderator attention. – Oli Nov 7 '11 at 22:49

Try installing gdm and removing lightdm.
