Im studying computer science and for me Ubuntu is most comfortable to work with. First, it doesnt get in the way, while Windows 7 does. It starts to some secret CPU-hungry tasks, it wont let me shut down my computer, because it wants to install updates and isnt fully booted when the desktop comes up. Ubuntu is usable the moment I see the desktop picture. And I can get around Ubuntu using keys, which is tremedously faster in my case. Not to forget all the useful software, installable with minimal effort possible! I use Windows for gaming. And Office...that one they got going for them |

Lots of reasons! It's free, it allows me to do things my way and not someone else's, it's more secure, it feels that I'm able to use my mind and learn (and if I want to learn, it encourages me to learn as much as I want or can), it's extremely customizable, I have the opportunity - if I want - to participate in its development and the directions it takes (but if I don't want to do that, I don't have to), it allows me to use the command line as well as the GUI, if I change hardware I don't have to worry about licensing issues, and much much more. I guess, to sum up, I'm in charge of my own computer, of the software on it, and of how I use it. That all feels nice. |

It's all about the community. It's about helping others. It's about giving something back and not expecting anything in return. The term 'Ubuntu' is absolutely fitting and needed. I am because you are. We are the product of everything we do and if we work together we can accomplish anything. Linux embodies this in every way! |
