I'd installed Firefox Beta from the third phase of beta, b3. and everytime that mozilla reaseled new updates, I could download and install them using sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next Terminal command. but from the 5th. phase of beta version, i wasn't able to upgrade my firefox to the newer version until today, mozilla released 8.0 Beta 6. But i was able before.

What's wrong ?

and also, I'm a bit new to ubuntu and linux, if I can't upgrade Firefox beta from PPA, would you be kind enough to tell me how to install Firefox manually and loose nothing such as addons and history , as easy as a newbie ? :)

Thanks.

You can download the latest nightly build from nightly.mozilla.org but it is not packaged for Ubuntu, but it is compiled and you can run it. – Anonymous Nov 1 '11 at 19:35

Looking through the recently built packages, it seems that the Beta PPA doesn't have FF 8.0b5 built yet. 8.0beta5 is the latest version, according to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html, which implies that beta6 has not been released yet (or not yet pushed to the beta channel).

PS: Please note, there is no need to repeatedly add the same repository.

Mozilla's Homepage updates lately, always check their FTP for the latest releases. ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases So. I have to wait until PPA build 8.0 Beta 6 ? also, Fx 8.0 Final will arrive on 8 December. – III.6 Nov 2 '11 at 5:45
No, Firefox 8.0 should be out in a week on November 8, and yes, you have to wait, if you must use the PPA. – mikewhatever Nov 2 '11 at 6:08
What if Fx 9 Beta Released and I Wanted to try it ? I should not use Beta Channel anymore or you thing this is a temp. problem ? – III.6 Nov 2 '11 at 8:27
Sure. Whatever beta version you want to try, get it from Mozilla. Just learn how to use the binaries. – mikewhatever Nov 2 '11 at 9:10
