After upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 I found that my Skype 2.2.0.35 is often freezing. I see the contact list, but if I try to chat or speak with somebody it becomes impossible.

Edit: Moving to 11.04 remedies the problem.

Hi. It's okay with cam - it just works. I found that mostly skype freezes after coming out of the suspend mode. – Oleksa Oct 28 '11 at 19:26
I see that it Skype mostly freezing after going back from suspend mode or after screensaver. – Oleksa Nov 7 '11 at 13:24
Observing the same here. For me only kill -9 helps to get rid of the skype process. I have the feeling this has something to do with pulseaudio. – Stefan Armbruster Nov 7 '11 at 21:11
Hmm... it seems that the latest version of Skype does not play well with Ubuntu. Check out this post as well: askubuntu.com/questions/77063/… – William Nov 10 '11 at 14:11
Also, I can add that 2.1 version freezes as well. Under Ubuntu 10.10 I didn't experience these problems... – Oleksa Nov 11 '11 at 0:02

Finally I went back to 11.04 and it works normally.

Please edit your question and add this as a note. The actual problem with 2.2.0.35 might be related to a sound issue. If you want keep the question opened for anybody with the same problem. – Luis Alvarado Dec 7 '11 at 22:06
@ObsessiveFOSS This post is by the author. When the OP solves their own problem, posting their own answer explaining how is appropriate and encouraged. This would not be better (or even appropriate) as a comment, and this post should not be removed. – Eliah Kagan Aug 30 '12 at 21:42
