I've upgraded to 11.10 and now almost everything opens with movie player instead of in folder:waste basket, ubuntu one folder, mobile phone when connected etc.what's the remedy?it's highly inconvenient if not simply annoying.

run this

gedit ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

In the [Default Applications] section you'll likely see this line - inode/directory=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop

Either delete the line completely or edit to this

Alternatively you could just browse to the dir. & delete mimeapps.list, it will be rebuilt as needed

cd; nautilus .local/share/applications
