I have put the content from your "answer" into your question. Can you see the little grey bits of text underneath your question at the left hand side? One of them should say share and another should say edit. Click on edit to add content to your question. – wizzwizz4 Jan 9 at 19:44

However, don't use edit to change what you are asking in your question, or people will get cross and stop helping you. Rather, ask a new question if you have a new question! – wizzwizz4 Jan 9 at 19:45

There seem to be multiple issues here: 1) The bogus cdrom:// entries and 2) the Problem with MergeList thing. – David Foerster Jan 11 at 2:32

I would say this looks ok. The missing CD-based package sources are simply ignored. The corresponding packages are also available from online sources.

Note that apt-get update only updates the local package index, i.e., it makes metadata about packages available locally. It doesn’t update your system.

To update your system, you should run the following in addition:

sudo apt-get upgrade
share|improve this answer
  1. Open a terminal
  2. Type in sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
  3. Remove the lines containing the word cdrom
  4. Exit with Ctrl+X, Y and finally Enter
  5. Update the package list with sudo apt-get update
