When i like put a plugin in rhythmbox (Ubuntu 11.10) this doesn't load anything... put my plugins in .gnome2/rhythmbox/plugins and /usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins and is useless!

Try copy/moving the rhythmbox folder to ~/.local/share/, that worked for me till 11.04, but now it does not as well as yours ~/.gnome2/...

You will have to make the /home/username/.gnome2/rhythmbox/plugins directory yourself if it is not already there and then it all should work OK
