I would like to know how to use ibus' GTK+ tray icon in Kubuntu instead of input method plasmoid.

I've tried to launch ibus-daemon from terminal and it worked: I could enable it through hotkeys and type Japanese hiragana, however there were no icon in tray and no panel with input choices. Launching daemon with --panel=/usr/lib/ibus/ibus-ui-gtk didn't help.

I believe I have all necessary packages installed: ibus, ibus-qt4, ibus-anthy, ibus-gtk and plasma-widget-kimpanel.

Have you solved your problem? I am experiencing the same in Kubuntu 11.10. Thanks. – chandra Feb 3 '12 at 9:48
