I'm running 11.10 with Unity 2D and recently I started to have, when any application is maximized, both the titlebar in the top panel and the window titlebar (the second before was not visible when the app was maximized).

Did anybody experience the same and can give me a clue? Thanks.

I reinstalled the package "unity" that I previously removed and the problem seems solved. This is a bug in my opinion because "unity-2d" does not depend on "unity". – giuspen Oct 23 '11 at 21:49
