I have a netbook eee pc 1001ha (or similar).

I had on it ubuntu 11.04 and it worked great with unity 2d.

Now I have downloaded ubuntu 11.10 main desktop release and prepared it to install by me lexar flash drive (using unetbootin under windows) but when I boot from my flash drive it doesn't show graphics at all, it only shows me a terminal environment (like dos).

It wouldn't have been a problem if i could at least install ubuntu using ubiquity and then install unity-2d(that would come in handy), but ubiquity needs graphics...

How can i solve this issue ??? (either install from cmd or an alternate cd image)

if your PC is still on 11.04, before booting with the 11.10 USB stick, I suggest you to try $sudo update-grub see askubuntu.com/questions/75885/… – Boris Jan 29 '12 at 11:24

Sometimes usb-creator works better than Unetbootin, it is made for Ubuntu. You can extract usb-creator.exe for Windows from the Ubuntu iso using 7zip.

Always check your downloaded iso for corruption using MD5SUM.
