After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 I had to remove Unity since it was crashing a lot. Apparently I messed up a lot with it because now my computer just looks ugly. Anyway I could instal gnome-session-fallback and now I restored the main usability to my system. Since the GUI now looks really ugly I've tried to change the theme, but with no success.

So my question is: How can install and change themes for my Gnome Classic (no effects) session in Ubuntu 11.10. I've tried GnomeTweakTools but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks a lot for your help in advance. Cheers, -Luca

You actually managed to mess up both Unity and Unity 2d and made both of them crash all the time? I would reinstall Ubuntu. – Jo-Erlend Schinstad Oct 20 '11 at 12:20
Unity was crashing by itself just after the upgrade, I only tried to uninstall it.. and when I installed it back thing were not working any more. I've also tried to "Upgrade" from a live usb, in order to restore all the packages needed, but apparently the configuration files have not been restored... – Luca Cerone Oct 21 '11 at 8:10
