I originally managed to get my tp-link archer T2U working on my machine but it seems to have decided to stop working after I installed some display drivers, unsure why. I tried to reinstall the driver but that doesn't seem to be working...

I'm new to Linux so not really to sure what I'm doing

It looks like that driver does not build for the kernel 3.13.0-66-generic.

It is theoretically possible to adapt the code to that kernel, but IMHO it is not worth the effort.

Your device is fully supported by kernel 4.2. You can fix it this way:

Boot with a previous kernel using grub menu. It should work there.

You can wait a week or two when 4.2 is in official repositories for Ubuntu 14.04. Then you will be able yo install it by

sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-wily

or install it now from PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:canonical-kernel-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-wily

Do not forget to reboot after you install a new kernel.

I suggest checking that the 4.2 kernel is uploaded to main repos and removing the PPA in a while.

  • Just given this a go and still doesn't seem to build Oct 28, 2015 at 18:59
  • What "this" you've given a go? With 4.2 kernel you do not need to build anything.

  • I meant I've installed the 4.2 kernel with the commands then tried to make the driver again Oct 28, 2015 at 19:04
  • You do not need to make the driver for kernel 4.2.
