Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I liked the new shortcut key ctrl + del (a la apple) for moving files to the trash that the gnome people implemented in gnome 3. Unfortunately for me the ubuntu folks have removed this function and restored it with the old del button. Having children that now and then hits the keyboards makes me afraid of accidentely deleting files.

Is there a way to restore the ctrl + del gnome 3 shortcut? I've tried the inctruction found here but in the opposite way but it didn't seem to work.

Any ideas?
