i am getting the following error while converting a file from .rpm .deb :

chmod: invalid option -- '/' Try chmod --help' for more information. mkdir: invalid option -- '/' Trymkdir --help' for more information. mkdir -/debian failed: at /usr/share/perl5/Alien/Package/Deb.pm line 299.

i am working on the same directory where the file is located and i use the following command: alien software-name.rpm

can you add to your question what RPM you are converting and the website link to the RPM. Have you searched for a .deb equivalent? – fossfreedom Oct 15 '11 at 10:02
My problem is not related to a specific rpm file.i was able to convert rpm to deb before. but now i don't know what happened. i can't convert any rpm file. – Osama Ahmaro Oct 16 '11 at 5:30
