Enthernet cable not detected by Ubuntu 14.04 LTS but it is being detected by Windows 8 and the internet is also not working in the terminal (even through the WiFi). please help !!!

First you can fix your wireless connection by running in terminal

sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-opt.conf <<< "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1"

and reboot.

You seem to be behind a proxy. You will need to add it to your configuration.

Run gedit ~/.bashrc and add at the bottom of the file

http_proxy=http://username:password@yourproxyaddress:proxyport
export http_proxy

Replace it with your real username, password, address and port.

Then if your wireless network starts working, you can install another driver for your Ethernet adapter by

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install r8168-dkms

that should help for rev. 10.
