Are you trying to add a ssl certificate to apache (https) ? Did you purchase or obtain a certificate or is it self signed ? Do you know how to configure Apache to use ssl (https)? – bodhi.zazen Feb 26 '12 at 1:46

Normally you copy the files to the proper location, there should be a key (.key) and a cert (.cert) file

sudo cp server.crt /etc/ssl/certs
sudo cp server.key /etc/ssl/private
