  • HOW DOES IT WORK?? Aug 3, 2015 at 18:22
  • Please do not use caps lock. Press Ctrl+Alt+F1, terminal will open. Type there this command and post output to your question. PLEASE do not post it here in comments. But this adapter may work without any drivers.

Run these commands in terminal. Very carefully!

sudo apt-get -y install build-essential git
git clone https://github.com/porjo/mt7601.git
cd mt7601/src
make
sudo make install
sudo mkdir -p /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/
sudo cp RT2870STA.dat /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/
sudo modprobe mt7601Usta

Wifi should work after that.

But you will have to re-install the driver after each kernel upgrade.
