I have recently moved to Ubuntu and have started facing this weird problem since sometime.

  1. Whenever I try to open a file other than a .java file in Eclipse, it freezes.
  2. Eclipse freezes even when I try to rename a file or move a file, re-factor.

This problem started appearing after I removed gcc-4.4 to install postgresql-8.4. It also coincided with an update from Ubuntu.

Can anybody help me. working on Eclipse has become impossible.

I found that there is an issue with my machine's Mother Board. The update from Ubuntu and removal of gcc coincided with the occurrence of my problem and thus the doubt. – SB. Oct 10 '11 at 6:29

I just got the motherboard replaced and the problem was resolved. I am not sure what was the issue with the motherboard. – SB. Feb 27 '12 at 3:58
