I have Ubuntu 11 running on a Thinkpad W520. Things work great, but not avahi-daemon. It seems that my laptop becomes invisible (ssh user@hostname.local can't find the laptop) to other computers on the network. Then I have to sudo service avahi-daemon restart. It seems I have to do this every day or two. Is there a way to avoid having to restart avahi-daemon so often?

Similar issue in that I use by ubuntu box as timemachine backup server. Once backup is done, Mac won't see the ubuntu box until I restart avahi-daemon. No problem with 11.04 but after 11.10 upgrade it's broken...

How is this an answer. It's a "me too". I still have the same problem even while running 13.10. – Saab Mar 20 '14 at 19:22
