Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

I use Windows 7 at work and I've installed an extension there that lets me click the background of a Windows Explorer window to go up one directory.

I've found it extremely useful, and I was wondering if there were any extensions or whatnot that might provide this functionality in Nautilus.

I don't know of any extension like that, but you can press alt-<up arrow> to move to the parent directory. It should be just as fast and has the advantage that pressing alt-<down arrow> moves you the directory you were just at. –  wdkrnls Oct 1 '11 at 22:20

@BlueXrider At this point I guess the answer to my question would be "no". I suppose it's sort of a problem that if no one knows the answer, the question just goes unanswered. I'm not sure what the best course of action is then. You can close the question, or I could answer it and say "no". Doesn't really matter to me. –  Kris Harper Apr 7 '12 at 13:11
