I can not connect to my router but the wireless connection displays all the available connections. It attempts to connect after I type in the password but does nothing but keep asking for password after not connecting for 5 minutes.

If as you say
then the driver is loaded and working. So,
1) Are you using the correct pass phrase? Your log in password is not the correct pass phrase. You must use the wireless key also called WPA-PSK key.
2) The router and the computer must be set to the same encryption method otherwise they do not talk the same language. An encryption method of WPA & WPA2 Personal usually works provided that is the setting on both the router and computer (Network Manger).
3) Network manager remembers connections even failed connections. So, delete any old - failed connection attempts, reboot and start again using Network Manager to access your wireless network and supply the information that it asks for.
4) Open the Dash (on 11.04) and type Help in the search panel and load the Help documentation and look for the links under Networking, web, email & chat>wireless Networking>Connect to a wireless network.
