I am on ubuntu 11.04 - and I have a Lenovo T410 laptop. I am not able to detect a projector. Ubuntu simply can not detect the projector.

➜ ~ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)

I tried using xrandr and setting up the display but nothing works. This is a sad problem that has been reported so many times on different ubuntu forums but never fixed. Is there any solution to this ?

are you using Ubuntu 11.04 server edition? I ask this because you tagged it as server. If not please remove the server tag. –  nitstorm Sep 29 '11 at 4:33

Reluctantly I upgraded to 11.10 - but the issue remains. Greatly disappointed. –  Ved Sep 29 '11 at 9:36

Have you upgraded your hardware drivers? –  nitstorm Sep 29 '11 at 10:17

Are you talking about the intel graphics driver ? –  Ved Sep 30 '11 at 1:18

From - help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedDrivers - I see that for Intel graphics card, we do not need the additional drivers as they are part of Ubuntu. –  Ved Sep 30 '11 at 1:20
