Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Since my upgrade on 11.10-beta1, I cannot edit my VPN-settings anymore. Under nm-applet => VPN the edit-button is greyed out. Unter the settings => network => vpn => configure, I get the error message "insufficient privileges".

My account is member of the admin-group, which should be allowed to change the settings:

# id lars
uid=1000(lars) gid=1000(lars) Gruppen=[...],119(admin),[...]

## source: /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla
[Adding or changing system-wide NetworkManager connections]
Identity=unix-group:admin
Action=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system
ResultActive=yes

Are there any privileges, that are checked beside the ones in PolicyKit?

This is a known bug (AFAIK already fixed now) and therefore off-topic on this site. :) – htorque Sep 16 '11 at 11:07
