First, I tried installing the latest emacs-nox
, but that did not work.
Then, I added -nw
to my ~/.bash_aliases
, which works in most cases, except when I need to run sudo emacs [file]
I still get emacs with X. Furthermore, when I set my git editor to emacs, and run git commit -a
, emacs with X pops up. How do I disable X globally, so I don't have to go around adding -nw
to every possible configuration?
sudo emacs -nw [file[
?sudo emacs [file]
apt-get remove emacs
didn't clean up the right one, but adding*
to the end of that command solved everything. So not sure this question is even helpful anymore.
