What command did you used to install VLC? Apr 5, 2015 at 6:18

First can you try installing from a terminal - sudo apt-get install vlc - This should work, you should not need these dependencies, did you get it from a website ?

Type software-properties-gtk in terminal CTRL+Alt+T as root and make sure that the restricted and universe repositories are enabled.

Then try this,

sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

then try to install vlc again

sudo apt-get install vlc browser-plugin-vlc
