Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

Just installed 11.04, switched to Ubuntu Classic at the Login Screen. Now several applications do not display properly. Affected apps include Firefox, Nautilus and Synaptic Package Manager.

In them all the window is completely blank apart from the title bar. The menu bar is present as I can pull down menus using Alt+f. In Firefox the form is present as the cursor changes from pointer to I-beam to hand etc. but I cannot see anything. I switched back to Unity and all seems well. I would like to go back to Classic as I am having trouble finding things in Unity.
