I have a labtec usb webcam. It works well with cheese. It doesn't work with firefox hello.

It looks like you need to add a rule to allow the detected device to operate
sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules
alternately you can use gedit or vim
ADD this piece of text with the appropriate bus, Vendor ID and Device ID and your hardware will be up and running.. You can enable the rules yourselves or you may want to reboot..
