Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free.

I had dabbled around scripting and I stumbled with a screen recording script, but everytime I try to run it, my terminal fails to and shows me this error:

There was an error creating the child process
Failed to execute child process "/home/kenny/screencast.sh" (Permission denied)

Any way that I could fix this?

I did not create this script, I just found it in this blog, because all of the screen recording software I get from the Ubuntu Software Center fails to record a decent video.

Did you make the script executable? sudo chmod +x /home/kenny/screencast.sh –  trench Aug 31 '11 at 23:29
i did but now when i try to run it it opens the terminal and asks for my sudo pasword but then nothing happends and the terminal closes –  blackstar Sep 1 '11 at 0:00
I think you'll get this solved a lot quicker if we can see what you are trying to run. Can you link to the script/blog? (One thing of note: if the script involved multiple files you'd need to make them all executable.) –  trench Sep 1 '11 at 0:11
It's also worth noting that it's a bit dangerous making random scripts found on random blogs executable, but I'm hoping you are already aware of this. –  trench Sep 1 '11 at 0:14
